On 13 February,
2020 the representatives of the National
Energy Regulatory Council (NERC), the Ministry of Energy, „Ignitis Group“ and ESO together
with the guests from the Hungarian Embassy in Lithuania and representatives of
the MVM ERBE company discussed current issues in the energy sector in both
countries and explored on the opportunities for cooperation.
The
representative of the Ministry of Energy presented Lithuania's plans for the
liberalization of the energy sector: the initiative on the deregulation of
electricity prices for household customers, the project for the
development of a centralized electricity consumption data collection and
sharing platform (Data Hub) for energy market participants and the
implementation of smart metering for electricity consumers.
Representatives
of the NERC presented current trends in the electricity sector, Lithuania's targets
in promoting the integration of renewable energy sources, as well as the
procedures for auctioning the allocation of quotas for the promotion of
electricity from renewable sources organized by the NERC. Representatives of „Ignitis Group“ and ESO
presented the activities and expansion and development trends of the companies.
Guests from the
MVM Group presented the group's activities and projects in the electricity and
natural gas sectors. MVM ERBE, the company operating in the field of
engineering, provides services of engineering consulting, coordination for
construction works, quality control and technical inspection services, as well
expands its activities in the field of renewable energy. Taking into account
the active international development strategy of the MVM Group, trends in the
energy sector of the entire Baltic region were also discussed during the
meeting.
The meeting was organized by the NERC
in cooperation with the Hungarian Embassy in Lithuania in order to exchange the
best practices and discuss possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the
energy sector.
