The MoU
concerning the process of the Synchronization of the Baltic States’ electricity
system with the Continental Europe (CE) electricity system has been signed
among Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian national regulatory authorities
(download here).
The objective
of this MoU is to facilitate co-operation and coordination among the NRAs in
order to ensure the implementation of the Synchronization, realizing NRAs
framework and necessary consultations with stakeholders on any other matters
that arise in the scope of Synchronization.
On 2019
March the European Commission decided to grant 323 million euros for the first
stage of the Baltic power grids' synchronization with the continental European
system. 125 million
Eur of this amount was granted for Lithuanian electricity system. All these
measures will ensure reliable operation of the Baltic power systems,
integrating them into European networks and synchronizing with them.
